Job Description

Auditor – Vertical Transportation

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + benefits

Location: Hybrid – Home & Office | London & M25 Sites

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

About the Role

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Auditor to join a growing team within the vertical transportation industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in lifts who is looking to move into a role that combines technical auditing, client interaction and relationship management, while offering an excellent work-life balance.

The role will involve carrying out regular maintenance audits across lift installations throughout London and inside the M25, assessing contractor performance, reviewing maintenance standards and producing clear, professional reports for clients.

There will also be occasional travel further afield, with overnight visits to Manchester and Liverpool approximately every 2–3 months for site inspections.

Key Responsibilities

•
Carry out regular maintenance audits of lift installations.

•
Assess maintenance standards, workmanship and contractor performance.

•
Produce detailed and professional audit reports, clearly documenting findings and recommendations.

•
Attend regular client meetings to present and discuss audit findings.

•
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.

•
Develop positive working relationships with lift contractors and engineering teams.

•
Provide technical insight and guidance relating to lift maintenance and compliance.

•
Maintain a strong working knowledge of lift regulations, standards and industry requirements.

•
Follow up on audit findings and work with relevant parties to support appropriate actions.

•
Travel to sites across London and within the M25, with occasional overnight travel to Manchester and Liverpool.

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid hands-on or inspection experience within the lift and vertical transportation industry.

Your background could include:

•
Lift Inspector

•
Insurance/Lift Insurance Inspector

•
Senior Lift Engineer

•
Lift Engineer with significant industry experience

•
Maintenance or Technical Engineer looking to move into auditing

You’ll ideally have a good understanding of lift maintenance, inspection and the relevant lift regulations and standards, together with the confidence to communicate technical findings to both clients and contractors.

A Level 3 NVQ in Lift Engineering would be advantageous, but it isn't essential. We’re more interested in your industry knowledge, technical understanding and ability to communicate effectively.

What We’re Looking For

•
Strong knowledge of the vertical transportation/lift industry.

•
Good understanding of lift regulations and maintenance requirements.

•
Experience carrying out inspections, audits or technical assessments.

•
Strong report-writing skills and attention to detail.

•
Confident communicating with clients and contractors.

•
Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.

•
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

•
Comfortable travelling to sites across London and occasionally further afield.

•
A professional, approachable and commercially aware manner.

What's On Offer?

•
£55,000 – £60,000 salary

•
35-hour working week

•
Hybrid working – home and office based

•
Excellent work-life balance

•
Strong benefits package

•
Opportunity to move away from a purely engineering-based role while remaining within the lift industry

Interested?

If you're an experienced lift professional who wants to utilise your technical knowledge in a role with less of the day-to-day pressure of engineering and a stronger focus on auditing, clients and technical standards, we'd be keen to hear from you.
